Suzanne - The Lung Association

Lung disease is the 4th leading cause of death in Canada -
and the only one on the rise.

Suzanne has been a smoker for 30 years and, like most smokers, she wants to quit. When she heard about the Lung Association’s Smoking Cessation Program “Leave Smoking Behind” she knew right away that she wanted to participate.

“From the start, it was obvious that a great deal of work and research had been done in preparation for the program. It was clear that the terrific addiction smoking has on an individual was truly understood. I can’t say enough about how this acknowledgment and empathy shown throughout the 8-week program has helped me. I am aware of my own pitfalls now. The meetings leading up to ‘Quit Day’ were especially invaluable.

While I am still working at describing myself as a ‘non-smoker’, I know I wouldn’t have been able to come this far before I attended the program. My doctor describes my progress as ‘triumphant’, and I am feeling more and more confident that it is truly possible to quit for good.”

The Lung Association provides Suzanne and other Canadians with support in the areas of smoke cessation, lung health information, and access to national Asthma and COPD toll free help lines
